Memorial Day

We spent Memorial Day Weekend at the Gustafson Cabin up in Nisswa, MN. The cabin belongs to Steve's aunt and uncle who live in California and let us use it when they're not here!!
There was a new bakery in town that we had to check out...Rachel's Bakery...very good, but a little pricey. I'd go back again though for their peach scones.
Ethan's first experience in the greater MN lakes...it was pretty cold, but he did end up enjoying it eventually. Maybe next time we're up there it will be warm enough to go swimming and get wet.
I was expecting Ethan to start digging into the sand and start eating it, or at least make a complete mess, but he just kind of looked at it and wondered what in the world is this. He had more fun playing with his cousins and his toys.
Grandma and Grandpa with their three grandchildren. Sophie, Julia, and Ethan.
On Memorial Day we went to town to listen to some speeches and watch a fly over. It was so cold we were bundled up and moving around to keep warm...what a summer... must be Minnesota.

Tulip Season

Jennifer and George were able to drive up from Iowa and visit Grandma Doris for the weekend and of course Ethan wanted to meet them. We headed out to the Arboretum together to see the tulips that Grandma had heard about from her neighbors. What a gorgeous sight. There were more types of tulips than you could count and each one more beautiful than the next.

Jennifer is also pregnant and due with a little girl in September and it's always fun to see the pregnant belly and then the baby after she's born. Ethan also wanted to show off that he can now sit all alone like a big boy...we were only two feet away from him and ready to catch him if he tipped over.

PS Can you find George?

Cookies

Ethan has been going back and forth with teething symptoms and from day to day and week to week he's either totally fine or completely miserable.
A few people suggested giving him teething biscuits to help with the pain when he's really fussy and when other remedies don't work. It sounded good so we tried it...what a mess...cookie slime all over, but oh so cute. He wasn't quite sure about what to do with the cookie at first, but then he just sucked on it played with it.

Playing and Cleaning

It is so nice to finally be able to be outside and even doing yard work is fun...at least for now. Ethan got a new swing for his 6 month birthday from Grandma and Grandpa that he just loves. We did have to move him inside though when it started to get cool and the grass was flying around from the lawn mover. He looked so lonely sitting inside while we were still picking things up outside.

Sheila's Art Exhibit

Sheila has been working at "Snap Pizza" for quite a while, but somehow we have not managed to get out there until now. We also had an extra incentive now that all her art work has been displayed on the walls of the restaurant for a neighborhood art exhibit. She actually painted all of her drawings while at the restaurant too. You could just picture her sitting in one of the booths and being inspired by life. She was just glowing as she was showing us each piece and explaining the details to us.

Mother's Day!

My first mothers day was a busy one. We started out with brunch at our house with Oma and Opa. Steve made his famous cheese eggs and bacon and Opa brought the sweet rolls and fruit.
It was so nice to be pampered, feel appreciated ... and get gifts :)

After we had our fill we drove out to Buffalo to attend church with Mike and Amy and be there for Jonah's baptism. What a perfect day to celebrate the importance of raising a child to be Christ minded. After church we headed to Mike and Amy's for a pot luck lunch with all of their family. We don't get to see them very often so it was nice to have them all there together.

Ethan was having so much fun playing with the guest of honor, but mostly he just wanted to poke him in the eye and steal his toys. We kept having to move Ethan further away from Jonah until we finally just moved Jonah away from Ethan. He played so hard that he fell asleep drinking his bottle and then napped on Daddy's shoulder.

After all the festivities finished we headed to Albertville Outlet Mall to do some shopping before the evening service at out church. We did get supper at Davanni's with Steve's parents and made it home just in time for Ethan's bedtime....what a crazy, busy, wonderful day!
